PURPOSE: A tangling preventing method of clothing in a washing machine is provided to continuously sense whether clothing is tangled or not by weight sensing elements, thereby increasing the washing efficiency while preventing the damage of clothing. CONSTITUTION: A tangling preventing method of clothing in a washing machine includes an initiating step(100) of storing errors and initial weights of respective parts of a washing tub, a washing-preprocessing step(200) of calculating a weight of clothing by comparing the weights after injecting the clothing with the initial weights, supplying water according to the calculated clothing weight, and detecting a weight of the clothing supplied with water but not washed yet, and a washing/tangling-preventing step(300) of comparing the before-washing weight with after-washing weights detected periodically for judging the tangling of the clothing and controlling a motor according to the judgement to release the tangled state of the clothing.
