PURPOSE: A sheet winding device is provided to wind various kinds of sheets including synthetic resin sheets surely without using a paper tube and to solve all the problems such as resource consumption, cost increase and environmental pollution due to incineration caused by the conventional use of paper tubes. CONSTITUTION: A winding shaft(2) has a shaft main body including plural lug projections(22a) advancing and retracting in the radial direction, plural surface plates(7A) fixed on the lug projections, and advance and retraction operation means of the lug projections. A sheet is directly wound in diameter-expanded condition in which the surface plates float from the shaft main body due to protrusion of the lug projections. Then, the winding shaft removed from a winding machine main body can be pulled out of a winding sheet roll(R) in diameter-shrunk condition due to the retraction of the lug projections of the winding shaft.
