<p>The invention concerns a method for providing aid for driving a motor vehicle equipped with a system comprising an electronic computer, receiving data delivered by a vehicle speed sensor and by a distance finder detecting target vehicles located ahead of the vehicle, performing the following: determining a situation for stopping behind a non-moving vehicle, for a minimum time interval; determining a clear way in front of the stopped equipped vehicle if the distance, or the relative speed or acceleration of the target vehicle are higher than their respective thresholds; signalling to the driver said clear way information. The system further comprises a self-releasing friction point on the accelerator pedal during the stop situation, when the vehicle is equipped therewith.</p> |
