PURPOSE: A multi-domain LCD is provided to form an LCD device having a characteristic of wide viewing angle and a simple structure. CONSTITUTION: An optical axis is horizontal to substrates(51,58). An A-plate(52) is formed between the front transparent substrate(51) and a common electrode(52). An LTN(Low Twisted Nematic) liquid crystal(55) is implanted between the common electrode(52) and a pixel electrode(57). A slit is formed at the common electrode(53). Liquid crystal pixel cells are oriented to different orientations of the liquid crystal according to each sub domain by the slit when voltage is applied to the common electrode(52) and the pixel electrode(57). A data signal is applied to the pixel electrode(57). Two or more domains are formed within one pixel cell by forming the slit as a shape of "+" or "x". Orientation films(54,56) are formed on the common electrode(53) and the pixel electrode(57).
