PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling a telephone for CTI(Computer Telephony Integration) systems is provided to achieve the smooth telephone usage between an external caller and a telephone user by making the operations of data receiving and display and the operations of a generic telephone smoothly and selectively carried out according to the types of the data called to a telephone for CTI systems. CONSTITUTION: A CPU detects whether a telephone call is received through a telephone line(S10). If a telephone call is received, the CPU delays the call for a given time(S20) and sends a voice signal, equal to a bell sound, to the caller(S30). During the delayed time, the CPU detects whether a DTMF signal is received through a modem(S40). If the DTMF signal is detected, the CPU sets up a data receiving mode(S50). Then the CPU judges whether the received data are about card input-output(S60). In case that the received data are the card input-output data, the CPU controls a card input-output device and executes the read/write operations of the data inserted into the card input-output device(S80). If the received data are CTI data, the CPU stores the CTI data in a memory and displays the data on an LCD(S70).
