Voice-capable GPRS support nodes

A mobile telephone network provides a network operator domain (2a) in which the output from a radio network controller (RAN) (14a) is processed by a voice capable serving GPRS support mode (30) (VC-SGSN). The VC-SGSN (30) consists of the combination of a voice service box (32) (VSB) and a serving GPRS support node (34) (SGSN). The VSB (32) and the SGSN (34) can jointly access the same home location register (36). The output of the SGSN (34) can be forwarded to the Internet (6a) via a gateway GPRS support node (20a) while the output of the VSB (32) can be forwarded to the public switched telephone network (4a) (PSTN). <IMAGE>
