PURPOSE: To prevent the drop of a return valve when a valve element is assembled, to miniaturize a piston, and to improve the workability and assembling property of the piston in the piston structure of a tilt device for a ship propeller. CONSTITUTION: The piston 39 constituting a cylinder device 21 has a shock blow valve 54 and the return valve 55 in this tilt device 20 for the ship propeller. The valve element 55C is inserted into a return hole 55A provided on the piston 39, and a valve element holder 56 is provided on the return hole 55A to form the return valve 55.
