PURPOSE: An RF(Radio Frequency) coil is provided which generates an RF magnetic field along a direction parallel with a loop surface of the coil and thus has a good frequency characteristics, and a magnetic resonance imaging method and apparatus using the RF coil are provided. CONSTITUTION: When three orthogonal directions are expressed as x direction, y direction and z direction, the RF coil includes the first electric path prolonged along the x direction, the second electric path parallel with the first electric path on a x-y plane, the third electric path parallel with the first electric path on a x-z plane, and the fourth electric path being parallel with the third electric path on a plane parallel with the x-y plane and being parallel with the second electric path on a plane parallel with the x-z plane. The fifth electric path connects the first, the second, the third and the fourth electric path serially so that the first and the second electric path transmit each current to the same direction and the third and the fourth electric path transmit each current to the same direction opposite to the current direction of the first and the second electric path. The sixth electric path is prolonged to the y direction on the x-y plane, and the seventh electric path is parallel with the sixth electric field on the x-y plane, and the eighth electric path is parallel with the sixth electric path on a y-z plane. And the ninth electric path is parallel with the eighth electric path on a plane parallel with the x-y plane, and is parallel with the seventh electric path on a plane parallel with the y-z plane.
