PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the viscosity of a liquid detergent composition comprising an N-acyl neutral amino acid salt type surfactant compound thereby improving handling properties, feeling of use and foamability to enhance serviceability. SOLUTION: A component A comprising a fatty acid alkanolamide type surfactant compound of formula (I) and a component B comprising a secondary amide N-acyl neutral amino acid salt type surfactant compound of formula (II) and/or (III) are compounded to give the liquid detergent composition. In the formulae, R1 is a 6-22C unsubstituted or OH group-substituted alkyl or alkenyl group; R2 is H or a 1-5C alkyl group; (m) and (n) are each 1-5; R3 and R5 are each an 8-22C fatty acid residue; R4 is H or a CH3 group; M1 and M2 are each an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal atom, an ammonium group, a quaternized amine compound moiety or a quaternized basic amino acid group.
