TRAVELING RANGE SELECTION DEVICE FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traveling range selection device of an automatic transmission capable of preventing a P range from being erroneously selected during traveling. SOLUTION: If a space formed by an orbital traced by a shift lever 11 at the time when the shift lever 11 is moved from an R range to a P range is defined as a guide route, a stopper 14 is advanceably/retreatably provided in the guide route. When a suction force of a solenoid 15 is larger than an urging force of a compression coil spring 16, the stopper is retreated from the guide route. When the urging force of the compression coil spring 16 is larger than the suction force of the solenoid 15, the stopper 14 is advanced to the guide route. Since ECU detects a traveling speed of vehicle and reduces a power supply to the solenoid 15 at the time when the vehicle is moved, the urging force of the compression coil spring 16 is larger than the suction force of the solenoid 15. The stopper is constantly positioned in the state that it is advanced to the guide route during traveling of the vehicle.
