PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal head which can form a favorable print with less density irregularity even when repeatedly used for a long time. SOLUTION: In this thermal head, many heating elements 2 are linearly arranged to an upper face along one side of a rectangular substrate 1, which is placed on a supporting plate 3 of a length equal to or larger than a length of the substrate 1. Cooling members 4a, 4b and 4c are mounted to a side face and/or an upper face of the supporting plate 3 along the arrangement of the heating elements 2 to absorb heat in the supporting plate 3 more at a central region than at both end regions in a longitudinal direction of the supporting plate. A refrigerant is circulated inside the cooling members 4a, 4b and 4c.
