PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting an abnormality of arc rocking amplitude in narrow groove GMA welding capable of automatically detecting the abnormality of arc rocking amplitude to easily save manpower and improve quality. SOLUTION: Whether the abnormality occurs in the rocking amplitude of an arc 7 or not is automatically judged by comparing the difference of a welding current value or the difference of a welding voltage value when the rocking position of the arc 7 exists in the left and right zones and when it exists at the central zone with a reference value. Thus, since the wear progress of a power feeding chip 2 and the generation of a failure of a wire oscillator 11 are quickly and automatically detected, periodic or continuous monitoring by an operator is not necessitated, the power feeding chip is exchanged at a suitable time, a troublesome adjustment concerned about in the case of continuing defective welding is also avoided, and unmaned welding for a long time is allowed.
