<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester resin composition which has characteristics (high mol.wt., high softening point, high viscosity, high solubility, etc.), equal to those of a rosin-modified phenol resin though it is produced without using an alkylphenol-formaldehyde condensate; a production method thereof; a binder for a printing ink; and a printing ink which has printing characteristics (emulsifiability, gloss, dryability, misting, etc.), equal to or better than those of a conventionally known printing ink made by using a rosin-modified phenol resin. SOLUTION: This resin composition is produced by reacting (a) rosin, (b) a polar-group-containing petroleum resin, (c) a resin produced by partially reacting a polymer formed from a carboxylic acid and a hydrophobic polymerizable unsaturated compound with a hydrophobic compound reactive with carboxyl groups of the polymer, and (d) a polyol. A method for producing the composition, a binder of a printing ink prepared by using the composition, and a printing ink prepared by using the binder are also provided.</p> |
