PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device which can change the profile of a necklace in response to preference by making two sections of a chain approach each other, or changing the length of the chain when the device is attached to the string of the necklace. SOLUTION: The openings of half shell bodies 2 and 3 are superposed on the openings of the other half shell bodies, and the half shell bodies are attached to each other in a manner to allow the chain to pass a space between them. In the two shell bodies, an elastic element such as a spring 7, which is attached under a compressed state, exists. Then, the spring 7 pushes the two half shell bodies to the outside, and arranges the half shell bodies at locations with a distance. By the sliding or the arrangement being apart from each other of the two half shell bodies, the openings lose the aligned state in the axial direction. As a result, the section of the chain being engaged with the opening is gripped and deformed, and a frictional force is generated. Then, a button is fixed to the same chain by the frictional force.
