PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high tensile strength hot dip galvanized steel sheet excellent in spot weldability and workability without using expensive alloy elements and suitable for use requiring spot weldability, corrosion resistance and workability and to provide a producing method therefor. SOLUTION: This hot dip galvanized steel sheet for a hot rolling base has a composition containing, by weight, 0.12 to 0.3% C, <=0.7% Si, 1.0 to 2.0% Mn, <=0.1% P, <=0.005% S (inclusive of zero), <=0.1% sol.Al and <=0.01% N (inclusive of zero) and moreover containing at least either 0.05 to 0.8% Cr or 0.005 to 0.15% V, and whose microstructure is composed of ferrite and martensite.
