PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an abnormal reverse current or an overcurrent from flowing through an assist motor 1 without causing any error operation or increase in a cost in an electric power steering device. SOLUTION: As to a current control signal (a leftward output AL or a rightward output AR) in the current direction of a reverse current or a normal directional current at the time when a current detection value of the motor 1 is increased above a reverse current allowance or an overcurrent allowance, circuits 6-11 are provided with a function of prohibiting input of the current control signal to a driving circuit 2, and the circuits 6-11 are arranged separately from a control circuit 3.
