PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a catalyst with Al-Ce-Zr multiple oxide as a carrier and to suppress the lowering of OSC after long-term use. SOLUTION: A catalytic metal is supported on a carrier comprising Al-Ce-Zr- Pr multiple oxide in which the atomic ratio of Ce to Zr is 3:1 to 1:3, the atomic ratio of Al to Ce+Zr is 2-10 and the atomic ratio of Ce to Pr is 3:1 to 20:1. Since the carrier contains Pr, the heat resistance of the resulting catalyst is enhanced and the lowering of OSC after long-term use can be suppressed. |
