PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a luminous element which enables luminescence with a high brightness and efficiency with a low voltage drive and shows an excellent stability when repetitively used. SOLUTION: The luminous element has an organic thin layer containing a compound of formula (I) (wherein Ar1 is a bivalent aryl group or a heterocyclic group; R2 and R3 are each independently an aryl group, a heterocyclic group or an aliphatic hydrocarbon group; Ar8 is an aryl group or a heterocyclic group which is not replaced with an amino group; R4a-R7a are each independently hydrogen atom or a monovalent group, wherein at least one of R4a-R7a is an electron-attractive group having a Hammett'sσp value of 0.2; and L1 is a bivalent aryl group, a bivalent heterocyclic group or a bivalent group wherein an aryl group and a heterocyclic group are connected via a prescribed connected group).
