PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new charge transport material simultaneously having the advantage of an amorphous material having structural flexibility and uniformity over a large area and the advantage of crystalline material having excellent charge transport characteristics, thus excellent in high-grade charge transportability, thin layer formability, various durabilities, etc. SOLUTION: This liquid crystalline charge transport material is characterized by comprising an asymmetric liquid crystalline material having the general formula (wherein, L-group and/or R-group are (is) such as to contain carbon atom(s), and the respective numbers of the carbon atom(s) in these groups differ from each other).
