The present invention relates to a 15- deoxyprostaglandin derivative of the formula (V): in which is a 5-membered ring which is selected from the group consisting of and R1 is hydrogen or C1-C5 alkyl; R4 is C5-C11 alkyl, C5-C11 alkenyl or C5-C11 alkadienyl; or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, with the proviso that compounds of the following formulae are excluded: wherein is or or and wherein R4 is C5-C11 alkyl or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. The invention also relates to a pharmaceutical formulation comprising a 15- deoxyprostaglandin derivative as an active ingredient. The derivatives and formulations of the present invention are useful as intraocular pressure reducing agents.
