PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing device, capable of easily printing characters, or the like, necessary for a subject for recording characters with the format preliminarily determined, such as various kinds of application documents and slips, in a simple configuration with a good handling property suitable for use as the stationery. SOLUTION: With an XY plotter 20 supporting a printing pen 25 movably along a subject for recording characters, assembled in a device main body 10 positioned and placed on the subject for recording characters, characters are printed on the subject for recording characters by the printing pen by driving the XY plotter under the control of a control part 31 according to inputted character information. The character information is stored preliminarily in a memory 36 provided in the control part. Furthermore, the printing reference position of the XY plotter and the subject for recording characters with the device main body placed thereon can be positioned through a window part 13 provided in the device main body.
