PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning method for treads of an escalator, which can easily eliminate dusts sticking onto a demarcation concrete surface. SOLUTION: This device comprises a water tank 9, a hose 7 to feed vapor that is generated by heating and vaporizing water 10 in the tank 9 to treads 2, a nozzle 8A mounted on an end of the hose 7 so as to jet out the vapor to the treads 2, a cleaner body 8B to rub off dusts, a water receiver 12 to receive the water generated when the vapor jetted out is turned into water droplets, and a tread drive chain cover 13 to prevent the vapor from sticking onto the chain.
