<p>A magnetic head includes a pair of magnetic cores (11,12) each having a convexly processed part (39), the convexly processed parts being disposed opposite to each other with a magnetic gap member (1,40) inserted therebetween, and a pair of glass blocks (15a,15b) disposed on both sides of the pair of magnetic cores, thereby coupling together the pair of magnetic cores. In the magnetic head, a metal magnetic film (19) is formed on a projection end face of the convexly processed part in each of the pair of magnetic cores. A pair of notches (13a,14a) regulating a track width are formed on a magnetic tape sliding face of the pair of magnetic cores by electric discharge machining so as to flank a butted part of the convexly processed parts of the pair of magnetic cores from both sides. Each of the notches has a shape such that an interface thereof is not positioned out of an edge of a recording pattern on a magnetic tape when the magnetic tape travels. <IMAGE></p> |
