PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a highly pure linearα-olefin in good producibility. SOLUTION: In a method of manufacturing a linearα-olefin by polymerizing ethylene in the presence of a catalyst, the method of manufacturing a linearα-olefin uses the catalyst wherein a preliminarily prepared catalyst comprising the combination of a zirconium compound and an aluminum compound as the catalyst is heat-treated at 90150 deg.C for 1-15 min.
