PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid composition, such as a liquid tooth dentifrice or a mouth wash solution, which is used for oral cavities and contains shellac and a pigment in such an amount as maintaining the transparency of the composition to give a clean appearance or a refreshing appearance to the commodity, and which can make the brown color of the shellac quiet. SOLUTION: This liquid composition for oral cavities contains shellac, a pigment in an amount of 0.1 to 10 mg/liter, and a chelating agent as a discoloration-preventing component. The chelating agent is preferably an edetate, a phytate or a polyphosphate.
