There is provided a communication system in which asynchronous file data which is not required to be real-time data and which is exemplified by still picture data, text data or program files outputted by a data source block 11 of a source equipment 10 or asynchronous file data such as low bitrate audio data or video data is written in a memory 13 and transmitted by a processor 12 to a 1394 interface 14. The 1394 interface 14 stores this asynchronous file data in an asynchronous packet and transmits the stored data to a destination equipment 20.
