PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display and a method for fabricating the liquid crystal display are provided to prevent a contact resistance from generating at a data pad to restrict delay of signal voltage. CONSTITUTION: The first metal is deposited on a substrate and etched to form a gate electrode(105) and a gate line(102). An insulating layer is formed on the gate electrode. A semiconductor layer is formed on the substrate. The second metal is deposited on the substrate and etched to form source and drain electrodes(112) and data line(103) on the semiconductor layer and to form a metal layer(130) on the gate line. An overcoat film is formed on the overall surface of the substrate. A pixel electrode(117) is formed on the overcoat film.
