PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the quality of a product by preventing the mixing of a coarse powder into a fine powder being the product. SOLUTION: In a vertical mill 1 equipped with a classifying rotary body 9 having classifying blades 16 in order to classify a powder 8 ground by a grinding roller 5 into a coarse powder 11 and a fine powder 12, an open air introducing opening part 26, which introduces the open air into the gap 25 between the classifying rotary body 9 and the casing 2 above the outer peripheral part of the rotary body, is provided in the casing 2, and a wind velocity adjusting means 36 for adjusting the inflow velocity of the open air is provided to the open air introducing opening part 26.
