PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tunnel boring device constituted to regulate the rotational force of a cutter traversing device, corresponding to its position to prevent the damage of a chain cutter guide member and an undermining ditch excavating chain cutter. SOLUTION: A pressure reducing valve 10a has an electromagnetic proportional solenoid 10c for regulating the pressure of an operating fluid. A position detecting sensor 14 is fixed to an output shaft of a speed reducer 13 and outputs a position detection signal S1 for the position detection of a cutter traversing device 5 from the rotating speed of the output shaft of the speed reducer 13. A computer 15 processes the inputted position detection signal S1 and outputs a pressure reducing quantity regulation signal S2 for oil pressure regulation corresponding to the position detection signal S1. An amplifier 16 amplifies the inputted pressure reducing quantity regulation signal S2, and outputs it to the electromagnetic proportional solenoid 10c. Oil pressure is therefore regulated by the pressure reducing valve 10a to regulate the rotational force of the output shaft of a hydraulic motor 12. As a result, the rotational force of the cutter traversing device is regulated corresponding to its position to prevent the damage of the chain cutter guide member 6 and undermining ditch excavating chain cutter 9.
