The invention concerns a method for selectively converting PFIB (perfluoroisobutene) contained in a halogenated hydrocarbon current which consists in: either contacting said halogenated hydrocarbon current containing PFIB with HF in the presence of a hydrofluorination catalyst to add HF on the PFIB, or in contacting said halogenated hydrocarbon current containing PFIB with HCl in the presence of a hydrochlorination catalyst to add HCl on the PFIB.
