PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a terminal device having an HTTP protocol processing function with sufficient security countermeasures regarding remote maintenance and a remote maintenance system. SOLUTION: This system is equipped with a maintenance center 1 which remotely maintains terminal devices 32, 34, 42, and 44 through the Internet 2. Each terminal device has an access mode used as to whether or not access from the maintenance center 1 is possible and a device information control part which performs input/output control of device information over the maintenance center 1 and alteration control of device information by an instruction from the maintenance center 1 according to the access mode.
