PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera in which operation time can be prolonged and which operates, even when the remaining capacity of a power source is small. SOLUTION: It is detected by a power source detecting circuit 66 as to whether power supply form a battery or from an AC power source is used as a power source and when the battery is used as the power source, it is detected whether the used battery is a dedicated battery. Then, the detected result is outputted to a CPU 62. Then, the CPU 62 controls a display power source control circuit 68, so that power to be supplied to a display unit 32 can be controlled and power to be supplied to a liquid crystal character display device 30 can be controlled.
