PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress separation of an upper side electrode at its side edge and increase coverage of an insulating layer at the side edge of the upper side electrode in the electroluminescence element, which comprises a lower side electrode, an organic layer containing luminous portion and an upper side electrode laminated in order on a substrate, and in which at least the upper side electrode is covered by the insulating layer at its side edge. SOLUTION: In the organic electroluminescence element 100, a transparent positive electrode 2 as a lower side electrode, a hole transporting layer 3, an organic luminous layer 4 and a negative electrode 5 made of metal as an upper side electrode are laminated in order on a glass substrate 1. These laminated layers 2-5 are covered and protected by an insulating layer 6 made of nitric silicon layer or the like and the side edge portion 5a of the negative electrode 5 is formed a taper shape widening gradually from the top side to the bottom side. |
