PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which does not generate a defective image when abnormalities in the engagement state of a gear means of an image carrier and a gear means of a recording material carrier are generated. SOLUTION: In the image forming device having a photoreceptor drum (image carrier) 101 for forming a latent image and a transfer drum (recording material carrier) 102 for carrying and transporting recording material, in which abutting/ spacing is possible for the photoreceptor drum 101 and the transfer drum 102, and performing transmission of rotary driving force between the photoreceptor drum 101 and the transfer drum 102 by gears (gear means) 101d and 102d in the abutting state, an abnormality detection means (a photo interrupter 1 and a support side plate flag part 154a) or detecting abnormalities in engagement state of the gears 101d and 102d of the photoreceptor drum 101 and the transfer drum 102, is provided, and an image forming operation is thus made not to be performed when the abnormality detection means detects the abnormalities. |
