PLASMA DISPLAY DEVICE AND ITS DRIVE METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display device which is capable of reducing vibibility of a black display and also is capable of suppressing erroneous discharge in electrodes at which writings are not performed, and to provide its drive method. SOLUTION: In this plasma display device, weak discharge is made to be generated between a scanning electrode 4 and a sustaining electrode 5 and between the scanning electrode 4 and a data electrode 8, by applying a low level voltage Va' (V) which is lower than a low-level voltage Va (V) in the sustaining period to the scanning electrode 4 and by raising slowly the first sustaining pulse which is impressed on the scanning electrode 4 in the sustaining period from a voltage Vs' (V) to a voltage Vm (V) with a ramped waveform in a writing period.
