IMAGE PROCESSOR AND PRINT DATA RECEIVING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain high-speed printing by reducing the processing overhead caused by the change of transmission rate of a transmission line or the difference of transmission rates between the transmission lines. SOLUTION: When the print data are received from a PC via a parallel cable, a parallel task 405a calculates a ratio (full reception ratio, %) between the total number of reception counts and the number or full reception counts and decides whether the full reception ratio is less than the prescribed value (N%). When the full reception ratio is less than N%, the task 405a reduces variable <reception buffer size> at a prescribed rate. Meanwhile, the take 405a increases variable <reception buffer size> at a prescribed rate when the full reception ratio is more than N%. Then the task 405a instructs a memory management part 307 to secure a reception buffer in a transmission/ reception buffer area 402 with the variable <reception buffer size> as an argument.
