PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constantly locate a true neutral point at the center of the off area by making a joystick lever device learn the neutral point, making it absorb and correct product dispersion and temporal variation. SOLUTION: This joystick lever device is constituted of a first step to set the neutral point of a lever as an initial value in a memory, to set a range including the neutral point as the off area of a switch and to set the outside of the off area as an on area, a second step to fetch an output signal of displacement detecting means when the lever is displaced to a neutral state as a new neutral point and a fourth step to compare the previous neutral point stored in the memory with the neutral point read in the step 2, and when the difference between the neutral points exceeds a prescribed range, to store the read neutral point in the memory as the new neutral point, to set a range including the neutral point as the off area of the switch and to set a range outside of the off area as the on area.
