The snap hook comprises a base (1) with an opening (2) which is closed by a pivoting finger (5) mounted on a pin (7) on a second section (3) of the hook. The pin may be slid towards and away from the first section and is biased towards it by a spring (9). When the hook is fastened a locking sleeve (10) fits against the surface (4) of the base and pushes the finger away from it, against the force of the spring. Corresponding surfaces (4, 8) on the base and finger hook together and prevent the finger from rotating when the axle is in a position away from the base.
