PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-processing method for making clear expression of chromatic characters or the like in an original by preventing the difference of output density for each hue, when expressing the chromatic component in the original in specified colors. SOLUTION: Concerning the image processing method, with which chromatic signals in input signals are expressed in specified colors, while using a density converting means for converting inputted color image data to density signals, and achromatic signals are expressed with achromatic components. The mixing rate of color agents to be used for expressing the specified colors is found, an existent masking coefficient is operated on the basis of the found mixing rate, a new coefficient for reproducing the specified colors is calculated, discrete data to be used for expressing the specified colors are calculated from the provided new coefficient by masking operation, and remaining discrete data are changed, while using one part of the calculated discrete data.
