PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate occurrence of permanent deformation of a compression spring at the time of inspecting blade attaching. SOLUTION: A cleaning blade supporting structure is provided with a cleaning blade 171, a base part of which is fixed to a blade supporting plate 174 rotatably supported by a case 200 and a top end part of which comes into sliding contact with an image carrier 140 to scrape away residual toner, and the compression spring, which is arranged between the blade supporting plate and the case and energizes the blade supporting plate to an image carrier side to press the blade to the image carrier, and is further provided with a stopper 201 for regulating excess rotation of the compression spring in a compression direction. The stopper is the stopper for regulating contact of the blade supporting plate with the mage carrier when the blade is turned up and constitutes a temporary supporting part which temporarily supports the blade supporting plate at the time of incorporating the blade supporting plate into the case.
