PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rail for a sliding door having wear resistance to avoid excessive wear, and causing no electric contact. SOLUTION: The rail 1 for a sliding door comprises an approximately groove- shaped base rail 2 and an upper rail 3. A fitting groove 4 is provided in the front end of the lower flange section of the base rail 2 and the upper rail 3 fits into the fitting groove 4. A sash pulley 6 supporting a sliding door body 8 is freely rotatably fitted to the upper surface of the upper rail 3. The upper rail 3 and the base rail 2 are made of aluminum and have the same coefficient of thermal expansion. The thickness of a film of alumite on the upper rail 3 is greater than the thickness of a film of alumite on the base rail 2. Thus, even if the temperature of the rail 1 varies, the upper rail 3 is prevented from floating up from the base rail 2 to avoid excessive wear and prevent electric contact.
