PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a pattern formed body by which a pattern of a variable wettability layer whose wettability is varied by an external stimulus can easily be formed on a substrate. SOLUTION: The method for producing a pattern formed body has at least a step for forming a variable wettability layer whose wettability is varied by an external stimulus on a substrate, a step for patternwise applying the external stimulus to the top of the substrate with the formed variable wettability layer to form a pattern whose wettability is different from that of the other part on the variable wettability layer, a step for applying a developing solution capable of dissolving the variable wettability layer to the top of the variable wettability layer with the formed pattern to stick the developing solution to only the part having good wettability and a step for washing the top of the variable wettability layer after the part with the stuck developing solution is dissolved by the developing solution to form a pattern of the variable wettability layer.
