<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a deviation amount between a position that a tape stops once and a position originally to be program searched in a program searching device for tape, and to shorten a program searching time by moving the tape at high speed until just before program searching position when the tape is moved again to the program searching position. SOLUTION: A program searching signal 7, and a front side semi-searching signal 10 and a rear side semi-searching signal 11 are recorded on the tape T. When the tape T is fed in the fast-forwarding direction to be program searched, when the front side semi-searching signal 10 passes through the front of a head 1, a searching signal discrimination part 2 detects it, and a mechanical brake 4 brakes a supply side reel and a take-up side reel to stop a capstan motor 6. By the inertia of a tape drive system, though the tape is overrun in the positive direction, since a tape position recognition part 8 recognizes a present tape position, the tape position recognition part 8 feeds the tape until the program searching signal 7 is detected in the appropriate direction and at an appropriate speed according to the present tape position.</p> |
