PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform character input by using a keyboard and to facilitate connection of the keyboard. SOLUTION: This PHS 200 is provided with an infrared ray receiving part 230 to receive an infrared signal from the keyboard (full keyboard) 100. The PHS 200 can perform the character input or instruction input by an operation of an input key part 210 or reception output of the receiving part 230. The PHS 200 becomes a keyboard input state when a transmission code is transmitted from the keyboard 100 at a state that the infrared signal can be received by the receiving part 230 and use of the keyboard 100 is enabled. When the character input is performed, the keyboard 100 to enable Roman character input and KANA (Japanese syllabary) input can be used and the character input can be easily performed. The keyboard 100 is connected with the PHS by infrared rays so that the connecting operation is facilitated in comparison with a product whose keyboard 100 is connected with the PHS 200 by a cable.
