PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parking apparatus which enables effective utilization of a long and narrow area as a planar parking area. SOLUTION: The parking apparatus is arranged in the parking area which includes a single entrance space S and a plurality of serially arranged parking spaces P. The parking apparatus is provided with an automobile mounting base 1 arranged at each parking space, and a gate-type moving frame 2 for reciprocatively moving astride the entrance space and the parking spaces to carry the automobile mounting base between the entrance space and the parking spaces. The gate-type moving frame has a lift apparatus (lifting frame 28) which is detachably attached to the automobile mounting base, for lifting the automobile mounting base from a floor surface F to a location higher than the height of an automobile C.
