PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an AC generator of high output. SOLUTION: In this AC generator for a vehicle, the ratio (L2/L1) of a length L1 in the axial direction of disk parts 301, 302 to a length L2 of a stator core 15 which overlaps the disk parts 301, 302 in the radial direction is at least 0.3. The ratio (R2/R1) of an outer diameter R1 of pawl type magnetic poles 22, 23 to an outer diameter R2 of a cylindrical part 300 is in a range of 0.50-0.54.
