PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video-recording device, by which video data for a previously set time is recorded and video data of a recording mode with a high importance degree is prevented from being erased during a recording operation. SOLUTION: The device is provided with CPU 10 for changing-over a normal recording mode for recording video data in a fixed recording device 9 by a normal recording period and an alarm recording mode for recording video data in the device 9, by an alarm recording period being shorter than the normal one. The device 9 is provided with a main data area and a sub-data area, which are not mutually superimposed, video data in the normal recording area is recorded in the main data area and video data in the alarm recording mode is recorded in the sub-data area.
