PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a canned linear motor capable of eliminating strength reduction in a can and leakage of a refrigerant by eliminating viscous braking force generated on the can and a winding holder, and positioning an armature winding on the winding holder easily. SOLUTION: This canned linear motor is provided with the armature which is disposed through a magnetic air gap between a stator having a permanent magnet on the field yoke and it and formed into a mover by mounting the armature winding 7. Further, the linear motor is provided with the winding holder 12 holding the armature winding 7, the can 10 storing the armature winding 7 and winding holder 12 therein and flowing the refrigerant around both members, and headers 15A, 15B supplying and discharging the refrigerant to both ends of the can 10 wherein the winding holder 12, the can 10, and the headers 15A, 15B are formed out of polyphenylene sulfide resin. A flat screw 11 is inserted into between the can 10 and the winding holder 12 through a positioning block 8 for reinforcement.
