NEGATIVE POLE AND SECONDARY BATTERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon material negative pole for a secondary battery having high capacity and enabling inhibiting of gas generation charging, and to provide a secondary battery using the negative pole. SOLUTION: The negative and the secondary battery using the negative contain a graphite coated with amorphous carbon as an active material. In thermogravimetry(TG) of the graphite coated with amorphous carbon, when a temperature is increased at a rate of temperature increase of 20 deg.C/min in an air current of 200 ml/min, a starting temperature of weight decrease of a first stage is 350 to 600 deg.C, and the amount of the weight decrease of t he first stage is 3 to 20% of a weight before the temperature increasing.
