PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling element for base isolation which is compact, capable of converting the friction into the damping force, unchangeable in base isolation performance against the change in weight of an object to be supported, small in the number of part items and easy in execution and carriage. SOLUTION: The rolling element for base isolation which is rolled along upper and lower guide members includes a connection piece in which a hollow portion of the inside diameter with the positive tolerance to the axis is formed in the center, and a surface portion is combined with a medium diameter portion of the small diameter with the differential radius exceeding 1/2 of the tolerance from a large diameter portion to be formed in a concentric arc-shaped surface, and a segment in which the outer circumference of a surface portion of a cylindrical body wider than the connection piece in the longitudinal direction and having an inner surface portion of the same diameter as the large diameter portion is divided into two or more in the plane including the axis, and the divided right and left end faces are bisected by the height exceeding 1/2 of the tolerance, a rolling unit is formed by an intermediate member with the inner surface portion of the segment aligned with the large diameter portion of the connection piece in the longitudinal direction and the off-centered end member, and each member selected from a plurality of rolling units is successively disposed on the axis and assembled with each other with deviation in the direction, and the outer circumference of the surface portion forms the same arc plane.
